At Loads, we believe the future of international food trade lies in combining smart technology with strong human relationships.

In this edition of #MeetTheTeam, we spoke with Roberto Barraza, Business Manager Mexico at Loads, about his work connecting procurement, sales, and solutions for our customers and suppliers across international markets. He also shares his perspective on the key challenges facing global food trade, the impact of artificial intelligence on the agrifood industry, and the importance of collaboration, excellence, and customer focus in building a more connected and efficient market.

1. What’s your current role at Loads, and what’s your main focus right now?

I’m currently the Business Manager for Mexico and the United States. My focus is to help deliver effective solutions across our operations while strengthening the relationships we’ve built with customers and suppliers. At Loads, we believe long-term growth comes from creating value for everyone involved.

2. What’s your role at Loads and what’s a typical day like for you?

My day-to-day work brings together purchasing, sales, and financing. I stay closely involved in the operations we manage from Mexico and the United States, coordinating with teams and partners across different markets around the world. Every day is different, but the goal remains the same: understanding each customer’s needs and finding the right way to support them.

3. What’s something you’ve learned working in international trade at Loads?

I’ve learned that successful international trade depends as much on collaboration as it does on market knowledge. Working with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams has shown me the importance of combining different perspectives and creating strong synergies. With offices in several parts of the world, our ability to work toward shared goals has been essential to the results we’ve achieved.

4. What’s the biggest shift you see coming in global food trade?

The global food trade is being shaped by several forces at once. Climate change, water scarcity, and other pressures on agriculture are creating new challenges for producers, suppliers, and buyers, while each season brings its own conditions and uncertainties.

At the same time, artificial intelligence could have a major impact on the agrifood industry. It can help make operations more efficient and improve the way we anticipate market trends, demand, supply, and other factors influencing global food markets. The companies that combine technology with strong relationships and sound judgment will be best positioned to adapt.

5. What’s the most important value that drives decision-making at Loads?

Excellence in everything we do. That means maintaining high standards, taking responsibility for our work, and always looking for ways to improve the experience we provide.

6. If you had to describe Loads’ culture in three words, what would they be?

Excellence. Teamwork. Customer focus.

7. How do you see Loads evolving in the next few years?

I see Loads continuing to grow while expanding the range of solutions and products we offer. Our goal is not only to strengthen the areas where we already operate, but also to enter new categories and markets where we can create meaningful value.

As we do that, I believe Loads will become increasingly recognized as a trusted partner that provides comprehensive solutions across the global food trade. That reputation will be built through consistent service, strong relationships, and the ability to adapt to our customers’ changing needs.

8. What are you most excited about in the coming months?

I’m especially excited about the planning we’re doing with our customers for the end of the year. Preparing to supply Peruvian grapes for the year-end season is a great opportunity to work closely with our partners and deliver a product that meets their expectations at an important time of year.

9. Complete the phrases:

Leadership means… bringing people’s efforts together around a shared goal and creating the conditions for everyone to contribute. Ultimately, it means delivering the best possible experience and solutions for our customers.
The future of food trade will be… a more connected and efficient market where consumers around the world have easier access to high-quality food at better, more affordable prices
