In this edition of #MeetTheTeam, we spoke with Carlo Diban, our CTO (Chief Technology Officer), about what drives Loads’ mission and what’s ahead for the future of food trade.

1. What’s your current role at Loads, and what’s your main focus right now?

My current role at Loads is Chief Technology Officer. I’m mainly focused on leading the company’s technology direction, overseeing our systems’ architecture and operations, and collaborating on the design and development of our digital products.

2. What’s your role at Loads and what’s a typical day like for you?

A typical day for me involves a mix of strategic and hands-on work. I usually start by reviewing key product and technology metrics, followed by syncs with our engineering and product teams to align priorities. Throughout the day, I collaborate with other areas of the company to ensure our technology supports business goals, and I dedicate time to exploring new tools and architectures that can help us scale more efficiently.
 
3. What’s something you’ve learned working in international trade at Loads?

I’ve learned that international food trade is a fundamental part of how our societies function. There are countless factors that influence this industry, and it takes dedication and adaptability to manage them effectively and overcome each challenge. Additionally, I believe that from a technological perspective, this industry holds a vast ocean of opportunities for innovation and development.

4. What’s the biggest shift you see coming in global food trade?

I believe the biggest shift will come from the digitalization of global trade processes. Technology will increasingly connect producers, buyers, and logistics in a more transparent and efficient way, enabling data-driven decisions and reducing friction across the entire supply chain.

5. What’s the most important value that drives decision-making at Loads?

The most important value that guides our decisions at Loads is trust. We build technology and relationships based on transparency, reliability, and long term collaboration, both with our partners and within our team.

6. If you had to describe Loads’ culture in three words, what would they be?

Innovative, collaborative and resilient.
 
7. How do you see Loads evolving in the next few years?

I see Loads continuing to grow as a tech driven platform that simplifies and expands international food trade. We will focus on leveraging technology to reach new markets, optimize supply chains, and create more value for both suppliers and buyers, all while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and service.

8. What are you most excited about in the coming months?

I’m most excited about the launch of new digital products and features, including AI powered tools, that will further empower our users. Seeing how these innovations enhance efficiency, connectivity, and the overall user experience is incredibly motivating for our team.
